Frequently Asked Questions

All your data is saved locally on your device — we don't have servers and don't store anything in the cloud. Your data is protected by iOS device-level encryption (when a passcode is enabled). When data is sent to services like OpenAI for transcription and AI processing, it is encrypted in transit via HTTPS/TLS.

No. Your voice recordings, transcriptions, and notes are processed through the OpenAI API, which does not use API data to train its models. We do not use your data for any purpose other than providing the App's features to you.

No. Audio is recorded temporarily on your device, sent to OpenAI for transcription over an encrypted connection, and then immediately deleted from your device. No audio is stored permanently — not on your device, not on our servers, and not by OpenAI.

You can delete individual notes within the app — they go to trash and are permanently removed after 30 days. To delete all data, simply uninstall the app. Since everything is stored locally on your device, uninstalling removes all data permanently.

Memo AI supports transcription in 12+ languages: English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Polish, Russian, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese. The language is detected automatically, or you can set a preferred language in Settings.

Yes. You can export notes as Markdown or PDF. You can also share notes via the iOS share sheet, send them directly to NotePlan, or export action items to Apple Reminders.

Recording works offline. Transcription and AI features (note formatting, chat, semantic search) require an internet connection to communicate with OpenAI.

Not currently. Memo AI is available on iPhone only.

No. Memo AI is available as a subscription.

Open the Settings app on your iPhone, tap your name at the top, then tap Subscriptions. Find Memo AI and tap Cancel Subscription. Your access will continue until the end of the current billing period.

Subscriptions are managed by Apple. To request a refund, visit Apple's Report a Problem page at reportaproblem.apple.com and follow the instructions. We are unable to process refunds directly.
